Wild and friendly

The original. Skyros is not a very touristy island and has maintained its tradition through the centuries.
Skyros is famous for the Skyro's horse, not found anywhere else in the world, shown in front of the Parthenon in Athens' Acropolis. The horse is short, with a height of about one meter with thick neck. It is very friendly with kids and because of its size, is ideal for young riders. The Skyros pony is now a protected species, including the monk seal Monachus monachus and the sea turtle Caretta caretta. Nature lovers will find here unique plants like the black tulip, and wild orchid and rare birds such as the falcon Falcon.
